Their Energy Star score is 95, one of the highest of any Los Angeles hotel. And more than 75 tons of reclaimed wood and many native plants went into the hotel design. Guest rooms boast organic linens, while the hotel restaurant utilizes produce and herbs grown in an on-site organic garden and pursues zero-waste options and sustainably sourced dishes.

The LEED Gold certified resort is 30% more energy-efficient than similar traditional properties, thanks to improved insulation, high-performance windows, and efficient mechanical and electrical systems. All cleaning products at Viceroy Snowmass are nontoxic and hypoallergenic, and shampoo and conditioner bottles get cleaned and resealed to limit waste.

The Cliffs at Princeville, located on 22 acres of Kauai's North Shore, has won recognition for its sustainability achievements. Renewable energy powers the resort by more than 50%, LED lights are in use, over 30% of their waste is recycled, and their water conservation program supports reusable containers over bottled water.
