September 22, 2020, marks National Voter Registration Day, which encourages the nation to check their registration status and register before each state’s individual deadline. Shortly after, on November 3, 2020, Americans will not only decide who the president of the United States will be, but they also make their voices heard on proposed state amendments, Congressional seats, and county and city representatives.

Since each state sets unique deadlines for registration and mail-in ballots, voters must stay informed of city, county, and state updates from their respective election divisions.

To help ease voter transitions into ballot day, Virgin Voice has put together a voting guide checklist that includes registering to vote, getting involved with voter retention, and more.

Double-check your registration status, voter ID laws, and assigned polling location.

Not sure if you’re registered to vote? No biggie. There are multiple ways to check your voting status, the easiest being social media.

Facebook or Instagram currently features links to voting information pages based on the user’s primary location; these links redirect users to their state’s election page.

Meanwhile, Rock the Vote also allows individuals to check their voter registration status, register to vote, and sign up for important reminders. Voting registration is also available at vote.gov. You can find a direct link on the top right of our site, virginhotels.com

Those looking to check their voting status must provide their first name, last name, and birthday. The results will show whether or not the user is an active voter (meaning, registered and eligible to vote), the user’s original registration date, the county they are registered to vote in, and their voter ID number.

USA.gov also has a detailed and linked voter guidance guide with links to individual state pages and informational videos.

Want to help spread the voter registration word? Here is how to get involved:

Organize:

Secure the Ballot provides resources to community leaders who wish to get their neighbors, colleagues, and community registered to vote. The organization has created an easily accessible and applicable tool kit that helps train aspiring leaders to organize Secure the Ballot chapters and lure registrations. The organization has worked with “left behind” organizations such as college athletics programs and farmers markers to meet demographics where they already are.

Encourage your workplace or business:

Workplaces and companies have multiple avenues they can follow to support voter turnout.

Virgin Hotels participates in Time to Vote, an initiative in which Virgin Hotels employees received four hours paid time off to go vote on election day. Businesses can submit their participation on the Time to Vote website.

Volunteer:

Rock the Vote is always seeking volunteers to help spread voting awareness.

Share, share, share. Post and share your registration status and resources on social media and with friends and family.
