The Art Of Celebrating Mardi Gras At Virgin Hotels New Orleans

Following

Located steps from storied St. Charles Avenue in the Warehouse District, Virgin Hotels New Orleans is like no other place to stay in the city. Guests who visit during Mardi Gras are likely to discover some special surprises.

The hotel is only two blocks from many of the major parade routes such as Krewe of Muses, Bacchus, and Morpheus. Guests can easily walk to the parades, yet easily escape for a break any time to enjoy all the comforts of their hotel room.

Whether you never miss a Mardi Gras in New Orleans or are hoping to check a Fat Tuesday parade off your bucket list, the hotel strives to enhance the overall celebratory experiences of the Carnival season. Here are just some of the ways you can celebrate Mardi Gras festivities in and near the colorful hotel.

Savor The Chewbacchus Drag And Burlesque Brunch

Before viewing the beloved Krewe of Chewbacchus Parade, get the party started at the Chewbacchus Drag & Burlesque Brunch. The acclaimed performers of the performers of Trixie Minx Productions will have two shows on January 20 at the Commons Club in Virgin Hotels New Orleans. Themed cocktails and brunch bites are served as part of the jovial show.

Attend The Mardi Gras Headpiece Class

Ever wanted to build your own Mardi Gras headpiece to wear to the parades? Here’s your chance. Held on January 27 at the Dreamboat, an indoor rooftop space at Virgin Hotels New Orleans, the Sorellas’ Vintage Boutique Headpiece Class will go from 1 to 5 p.m. Each participant will be taught the step-by-step process of making their own complete headpiece to wear on Fat Tuesday. They’ll be served a complimentary glass of champagne to help set the festive mood of the craft class. Afterwards, guests can make their way to the The Pool Club, which is adjacent to the Dreamboat, where they can enjoy DJ entertainment.

Celebrate the Carnival Season At The Commons

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on January 28 and February 9, you can celebrate Carnival At Commons, yet another special Mardi Gras brunch experience at Virgin Hotels New Orleans. Enjoy a carnival theme with seasonal cocktails and foods that help enhance the festive atmosphere.

Treat Yourself To Lundi Gras Bounce Brunch

Who can get enough drag-queen brunches? The Lundi Gras Bounce Brunch was created to evoke the joy of the carnival season. Held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Commons Club on February 12, this brunch will feature performances from popular drag queen Laveau Contraire. Guests can also enjoy music from DJ Mikey Offline and specialty cocktails with a Mardi Gras theme.

Book A Luxurious Room In The Big Easy

Every guestroom at the Virgin Hotels New Orleans was designed to help guests relax in luxury and style. They are all designed to have a suite atmosphere with privacy doors that separate the bedroom area from the dressing room. If you really want to indulge in a big Mardi Gras celebration, consider one of the posh suites.

In-room amenities in all guest rooms include a fridge stocked with reasonably priced snack and drinks. Also, a large room service menu is available for all guests with a wide variety of dishes. There are vegan options and something for everyone.

Other Ways to Celebrate Near The Hotel

Many other big and small Mardi Gras celebrations are just a short walk or drive from the hotel. For instance, you don’t want to miss out on the time-honored tradition of eating a king cake during the Carnival season. Try the scrumptious king cakes served fresh at Breads On Oak on nearby Carondelet Street. You may want to take one back to your hotel to enjoy it later. With a fridge in every guest room at Virgin Hotels New Orleans, you can safely store it.

Also, if you always dread when the holiday lights come down in January, be sure to look for Mardi Gras trees around the city. Many homes and businesses in New Orleans boast holiday trees with green, purple, and gold decorations to celebrate Mardi Gras. They often have beads instead of garland and a crown at the top instead of a star.
