Applications for Virgin Hotel Edinburgh's next Artist in Residence program are now open.

 

This three-month residency offers emerging artists from Edinburgh's creative scene a unique opportunity to utilise free workspace and showcase their work within the walls of our iconic Old Town Hotel on Victoria Street.

The selected artist for the first residency of 2025 will have exclusive access to the hotel's creative studio, the Unicorn Room during the residency. Located in the historic India Buildings turret of Virgin Hotels Edinburgh, provides sprawling views across the city. The workspace is further enhanced by a unique, hand-painted mural by Studio Giftig, offering the perfect source of creative inspiration.

Previous Artist 

Wendy Helliwell

For the months of August to October we were thrilled to have selected a local creative, Wendy Helliwell as our Artist in Residence. As a visual artist, Wedy takes inspiration from fashion and pop culture in here work. Primarily self taught, Wendy incorporates multiple materials, such as fashion magazines and clothing, in a sustainable and innovative way, to create unique, three dimensional art forms. Wendy residency took place during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where Wendy gave discarded Festival materials, such as promotional flyers a new lease of life to create never before seen art pieces which you can see and purchase HERE.
