About The Artist
Athens-born ‘Constantine.. the Artist’ is an artist whose work is inspired by his early surroundings and the mythological heritage of his hometown. Despite starting off with an academic journey in Geology at the University of Aberdeen, Constantine..’s true calling has always been art - a passion that he has pursued without formal training. His artistic journey began in Aberdeen, after decade there, he moved to Edinburgh in 2018, drawn by the city's vibrant art scene.
Constantine.. isn’t limited to one medium, from experimenting with inks and acrylics, during his residency, he will be working with oil sticks and pastels. Influenced by everyday experiences, self-portraits, and figures reminiscent of Batman, Constantine..’s work often teases and provokes social topics, encouraging audiences to reflect on their own judgments and assumptions of themselves and others. As an artist, he is challenging viewers to assess their perceptions.
Constantine..’s residency at Virgin Hotels Edinburgh, will allow him to expand his "VIGILANTE" series. First conceptualised in 2020 and exhibited in 2023, “VIGILANTE” explores themes through the lens of a nemesis figure. The core message of Constantine..'s work revolves around self-reflection and the human tendency to judge others. He aims to create art that challenges the status quo, playing with the perception of the good vs evil behind the mask.
