We're thrilled to introduce our Artist in Residence programme aimed at supporting Edinburgh's vibrant art scene & creative community. We've selected a local creative Wendy Helliwell as our next Artist in Residence, taking up position in the Unicorn Room from August through October.

As a visual artist, Wendy takes inspiration from fashion and pop culture in her work. Primarily self-taught, Wendy incorporates multiple materials. such as fashion magazines and clothing, in a sustainable and innovative way, to create unique, three dimensional art forms. One of Wendy's piece's already hangs proudly on the walls of the hotel - the iconic "Virgin Lips" which you'll find just by our Concierge Desk.

Watch in August as Wendy, inspired by The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, will give discarded Festival materials, such as promotional flyers, a new lease of life to create never before seen art pieces, which will then be on sale and displayed in our beautiful red staircase leading to our Oculus lounge.

Guests of the hotel are invited to discover the inspiration behind Wendy’s work and get a glimpse into her creative process during a meet and greet at her studio in The Unicorn Room in one of the historic turrets on the 10th floor.
