Big EZ Seafood

Big EZ Seafood

This place has been doing it right for YEARS. While it isn’t always my go-to seafood spot, it’s always been my favorite place to get crawfish. They do both regular style crawfish and Viet-Cajun style crawfish! Their West Bank location is more of a to-go spot, while the Kenner location is family friendly with inside dining.

Sweet Soulfood Vegan Cuisine

Sweet Soulfood Vegan Cuisine

I fell in love with Sweet Soulfood six years ago. I stumbled upon it looking for a place to eat for date night. Their hours of operation are Monday through Saturday 11AM - 5 PM, and they have the same pre-set menu weekly. My go to order would be the fried cauliflower tossed in buffalo sauce with a side of mac-n-cheese, jambalaya and green beans. Don’t skip out on their dessert either - bread pudding is always a must!

Chicken’s Kitchen

Chicken’s Kitchen

Chicken’s Kitchen is just something else! The mom & pop shop is open Monday through Friday with a set menu. I usually go on Friday’s because that’s when I want all the fried items: fried ribs, fried catfish, even fried lamb chops! Their plates consist of a fried item, one main side like their 5-star mac-n-cheese or jambalaya and two smaller sides like their crawfish or potato salad. Also, they have Anointed Confections desserts - the banana pudding and ooey gooey cake are delicious!

Brennan’s

Brennan’s

This place is classic to me. Every time I’ve been, I’ve always had the best food and service. The exterior is perfectly picturesque with its iconic pink walls. They have happy hour and champagne sabers on Fridays at 5pm which is highly entertaining. Brunch is spectacular as well; I always order the Oysters J’aime and the Eggs St. Charles. As expected, my meal always ends with the famous flaming Bananas Foster!

Lilly’s Cafe

Lilly’s Cafe

Lilly’s hits every single time I want Pho. I haven’t been going there for long, but it is super convenient and makes me feel better when I’m sick. The spicy tofu will send those allergies packing! The broth is always hot and super clear and flavorful. If I have to put more seasoning in it, the pho isn’t it. Located on Magazine St, this family-owned business is a must try!

Barracuda

Barracuda

If you want flavorful tacos AND good tequila- Barracuda is the place to go. This combo is perfect for your Taco Tuesdays. Their happy hour runs from 3-6PM Tuesday through Friday with specials on nachos and margaritas.

Bao Mi

Bao Mi

OH MY, if I could eat here every day, I most definitely would. Located on Tulane Ave, this spot is a Vietnamese joint specializing in the softest baos. They take Vietnamese street food and add twists to make the flavors that much more delicious. My go-to items would be the bulgogi bao, KFC bao, pew pew shrimp bao, beef bulgogi bun bowls (vermicelli) and definitely the bulgogi fries. They run specials too so be on the lookout for those.
